What You Will Do

The Construction Management organization is seeking a Construction Manager 4 to manage construction projects. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of all construction activities required to successfully complete projects on schedule and within budget. This position has the overall responsibility for safety leadership, accident prevention, and implementing a Zero Accidents philosophy within assigned construction projects. This position develops execution strategies, helps refine project scopes, schedules, & project budgets. This position also provides guidance on construction management principles and practices to other functions/organizations.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities, of all field engineering disciplines, subcontract management, construction technologies, and project management.

  • Understanding of environmental laws and requirements.

  • Understanding of government compliance standards

  • Demonstrated track record of successful management of construction projects

  • Demonstrated awareness of zero accident safety initiatives

  • Demonstrated awareness of project planning automation tools.

  • Demonstrated record of effective management in the following areas: financial management, personnel management, safety, security, and quality management.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow both internal and external organizational relationships.

  • Demonstrated experience in effective decision-making, creative problem solving, and continuous improvement programs.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of personnel and customers.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience as a contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE)

  • Successful experience managing construction projects or portfolios with TPC >$300M.

  • Experience working under nuclear quality standards (NQA-1, etc.)

  • Experience managing D&D; projects.

  • Current or previous certification in Earned Value Management systems.

Education:Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or construction discipline, 10 years construction related experience and at least 5 years management experience; or at least 20 years construction industry experience and at least 10 years management experience.

Additional Details:

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
