Los Alamos National Laboratory Group Leader (QPA Manager 4) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Quality and Performance Assurance-Institutional Quality (QPA-IQ) group provides leadership in quality assurance oversight of the following programs: weapons, institutional supplier evaluations, receipt inspections, supply chain quality, assessments (including NQA-1 & NAP-24), software quality, hoisting, lifting and rigging (HLR) and Suspect Counterfeit Items .
Reporting to the Quality and Performance Assurance Division Leader, the QPA-IQ Group Leader will serve as part of the QA management team to provide leadership for the division with a strong focus on quality assurance program development and oversight. The successful applicant will provide technical and managerial leadership to implement and support the LANL Quality Assurance Program. The group leader is responsible for the overall management of the QPA-IQ group including deploying QA staff and contractors to diverse projects/programs/facilities.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the LANL QA Program requirements and application of Weapons quality. Also, experience with interpretation and application of quality assurance contractual standards, regulations, and codes (i.e.SD330, 414.1D,NQA-1, QC-1, NAP-24)
Demonstrated experience successfully leading a team of technical professionals, preferably in the quality management field.
Demonstrated successful application of sound business practices and judgment, as evidenced by excellent strategic and tactical planning and fiscal management skills
Demonstrated successful working relationships with internal and external customers (DOE, LAFO, NNSA, DNFSB)
Proven record of effective two-way written and oral communications skills, as evidenced by internal and external interactions, including briefings, presentations, publications, and meetings
Demonstrated success in developing and managing new projects and program initiatives.
Working knowledge of EFCOG
NQA-1 lead auditor certification
Experience in weapons program is desired, preferably in the Production Agency.
Working experience reviewing and revising QA procedures and plans.
Experience in operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers.
Ability to review and revise QA procedures and plans. Ability to foster a high level of quality awareness and participate in quality related decisions and commitments.
Experience reviewing manufacturing process/ component/ subassembly/ assembly documentation to ensure conformance with design and manufacturing requirements
Demonstrated ability to manage many deliverables in a timely and professional manner
Education: Master's degree in Quality, Performance Assurance, Quality Assurance Engineering Management or related field, and a minimum ofeight years of related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

The Institutional Quality (IQ) group supports the Laboratory by ensuring quality affecting activities are executed consistently and effectively across the institution. The IQ mission is to validate that processes, policies and programs meet regulatory and customer requirements, integrate quality requirements into operational systems, and develop/manage QPA owned processes and electronic systems to support institutional programs.
