Los Alamos National Laboratory Maintenance Planner/Scheduler 4 (Work Control Planner 4) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

Come join our team and see why there is nothing ordinary about the work being done at LANL. This is an engineering opportunity for a senior-level experienced mechanical or electrical engineer or Maintenance Planner/Scheduler interested in planning and scheduling lab-wide maintenance programs.

As a Maintenance Planner, your duties will include:

  • Develop, monitor, and validate accuracy, and auditing of performance data, reports and other statistical information.

  • Develop and review work packages for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area.

  • Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.

  • Maintain databases for performance measurement.

  • Prepare, review, and issue equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.

  • Analyzes time and material requirements for work activity.

  • Preparation of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates.

  • Development of step-by-step instructions for work.

  • Tracks and expedites established priority of work packages.

  • Preparing and/or reviews efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment or de-energizing various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.

  • Performs various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training.

  • Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and completed according to established requirements.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Unique knowledge of and broad experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.

  • Extensive experience in work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.

  • In-depth experience with interpreting various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

  • Demonstrated experience with computerized work management system (CMMS) in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and developing solutions on complex problems affecting work control and planning.

  • Demonstrated experience with fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning for unique and/or complex activities to both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Demonstrated exceptional skill in preparation and presentation of work control reports.

  • Expert knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Extensive knowledge of work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Extensive knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.

Education:

Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum twelve years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working on electrical and mechanical systems.

Additional Details:

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.
