What You Will Do
The select candidate will have the responsibility of design and configuration management of secure and unclassified teleconferencing for the laboratory's teleconferencing rooms. The candidate will also assist in providing surveillance video camera infrastructure services for laboratory customers.
This position will be filled at either the Network Professional 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Network Professional 2 ($71,000-$115,700)
The successful candidate will be a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of video conferencing plus working knowledge of other networking technologies. This job is for a fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. The candidate will provide resolution to a diverse range of complex video conferencing problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. The position works under limited direction and receives general instructions on new assignments. Employee will determine approach to solutions, plan schedule and arrange own activities in accomplishing objectives.
Network Professional 3 ($86,600 - $141,800)
A level 3 Network Professional designs and implements the Laboratories internal videoconferencing communications systems, including local-area networks (LANs) and/or wide-area networks (WANs). The candidate will plan, design and implement net worked systems, including configurations, supporting/ troubleshooting network problems and coordinating with vendors for installation of such items as routers, bridges, firewalls, and switches. Employee will be expected to work on project implementation. Employee will provide training and assist with proposal writing, as well as conduct project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Network Professional 2:
Knowledge of Video Teleconferencing (VTC) standards and the protocols that are used (H.323 and/or SIP).
Basic understanding of VoIP and routing technologies.
Basic Understanding of Networking Infrastructure.
Basic understanding of desktop conferencing systems (Microsoft Lync).
Ability to work with customers and vendors to design and install classified and unclassified VTC systems.
Ability to take a project from conception to completion with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated experience with audio/video systems and their components such as computer interface components, document cameras.
Understanding of analog as well as digital audio/video systems.
Additional Job Requirements for Network Professional 3:
In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Network Professional 3 level requires:
Mastery of Polycom bridging systems that include RMX, RPAD, DMA, and Resource Manager. Able to configure bridged conferences. Extensive understanding of troubleshooting principals in regard to bridging functions in both a federal classified and unclassified network.
Demonstrated experience in Windows server, firewall, and router administration.
Knowledge of video compression and encoding techniques.
Knowledge of security procedures relative to VTC and Media Display design and installation.
Desired Skills (at either level):
Basic Windows Server administration experience.
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory administration.
Ability to assist ISSO with technical details of new or updated systems for security plans.
Understanding of dual use systems (Chameleon) for classified and unclassified VTC.
Knowledge of the Polycom CODEC with regard to system configuration, setup and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of the Cisco Codian bridging system. Able to configure bridged conferences. Understanding of troubleshooting principals in regards to bridging functions in a federal classified network.
Understanding of Crestron control systems.
Understanding of Virtual systems.
Ability to learn, understand and teach other team members new bridging, edge and Unified Communication technologies.
Network Professional 2 typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Network Professional 3 typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of eight years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, applicable advanced vendor and/or professional certification is desirable.
Notes to Applicants:
This position requires the candidate to perform on-call duties 24 x 7. This responsibility is distributed among team members equally.
