What You Will Do
The Non-Destructive Testing & Evaluation Group (AET-6) of the Applied Engineering and Technology Division requires an energetic, customer-focused engineering technician for its operations. The selected candidate will contribute to performance of non-destructive testing, operations, and development. The work environment involves moderate hazards and classified settings, requiring demonstration of a strong commitment towards safety and security. The selected candidate will be expected to work independently and as a member of a team on challenging concurrent projects. This position requires close cooperation, adaptability, initiative and willingness to provide support wherever needed.
Responsibilities include the following:
Contributing as a Non-Destructive Testing Inspector performing inspections including but not limited to Radiography, Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Eddy Current, and Penetrant.
Supporting multiple weapon and non-weapon component production programs and weapon surveillance programs.
Working in moderate to high hazard facilities.
Handling of hazardous material including but not limited to high explosives and radioactive material.
Operating and performing routine surveillance and maintenance of Non-Destructive Testing equipment including but not limited to film processors, computed radiography scanners, digital detector arrays, and motion/robotic controls.
Actively contribute to modernization of capabilities, knowledge and infrastructure.

Must be able to obtain DOE Q-clearance, special sigmas, and HRP.
Demonstrated experience with various Non-Destructive Testing methods and equipment.
Demonstrated experience with electronics, high voltage systems.
Demonstrated experience in successful usage of technical procedures.
Working knowledge and experience in one or more of the following technical areas: radiation generating device operations, machine shop fabrication operations, welding, chemical laboratory, and/or quality control.
Demonstrated experience in moderate to high hazard work areas (e.g. explosives handling, radiation, fissile material, electrical).
Demonstrated experience in reading and interpreting engineering design drawings.
Demonstrated experience in using integrated work documents and detailed operating procedures.
Active HRP assignment.
Active DOE Q clearance.
Education:Associate’s Degree in technology, computing, or engineering, and 1-2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, experience, and/or military service.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
