Los Alamos National Laboratory Risk Program Administrator (Capital Project Leader 1) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Estimating organization at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking Capital Project Leaders to serve as Risk Program Administrators on capital projects within the Principal Associate Directorate for Capital Projects (PADCAP). These individuals will be responsible for configuring risk management programs to be responsive to the business processes established for risk management on capital projects within PADCAP. This position will support the Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement (CMRR) project.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with Risk Manager Leads to review and understand the risk management process.

  • Configuring risk management software programs to meet the requirements of the risk management process.

  • Advising Risk Manager Leads where process improvements may be realized.

  • Providing Project Risk Manager Leads with key information necessary to complete monthly and weekly reports and dashboards concerning risks (risk and response plan ownership, timelines for action, quantification of risk and health of the Risk Management Process)

  • Training Risk Owners, Risk Managers and Risk coordinators on the use of risk management software tools.

  • Supporting Risk Owners and Risk Coordinators in entering and updating risk information.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experience and demonstrated skill as a risk management software administrator

  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with demonstrated ability to train varying levels of personnel in the use of risk management software.

  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing and solving problems.

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience. Knowledge of current industry and technical developments in the risk management field.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working on multiple tasks with conflicting and often changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff, management, and external customers.

  • Multidiscipline construction experience or engineering degree.

  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office/Excel/Word and integration of various database software programs.

Education:

Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a six years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

Where You Will Work

Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

The Capital Projects Risk Group reports to the PADCAP Manager of Functions, Project Controls organization. They have 150+ employees deployed across the Laboratory performing cost, schedule, estimating and risk management for capital projects. The MOF-PC Group Leader is seeking individuals to deploy risk management programs on these projects.

The Risk Program Administrators positions will report to a Risk Manager Lead in establishing, monitoring and reporting on project risk profiles for assigned PADCAP projects as an integrated member of one, or multiple, large (>$20M) capital projects in support of LANLs missions.

Minimum Salary: 78400
