What You Will Do

The Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group is seeking an energetic, experienced, interactive, customer-focused individual to provide operational and programmatic support in statistics. You will need to be an excellent problem-solver, able to anticipate challenges or obstacles and tactfully resolve them with little to no supervision. The successful candidate will report to the Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group’s Accounting Team Leader.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience making decisions and resolving problems both independently and as a team member.

  • Demonstrated ability to use judgment, creativity, flexibility and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Advanced ability to manipulate and analyze data.

  • Advanced statistical computing skills including experience using statistical analysis software.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical results to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral formats as demonstrated in delivering technical presentations.

  • Ability to work with sensitive and/or classified information.

Education:Position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher and twelve years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional consideration may be given to professionally recognized training and/or certification in related fields.

Additional Details:

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.

The Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group (SAFE-NMCA) is responsible for overseeing all nuclear material operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory including maintaining the Laboratory’s official record of its nuclear material holdings. The group is also responsible for maintenance and enhancement of the nuclear material accounting system and other institutional-level software. These responsibilities result in a high, sustained operational tempo as well as significant scrutiny from both internal and external customers.

Minimum Salary: 86000
