Los Alamos National Laboratory Systems Administrator (Computing Systems Tec 5) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Sensitive and Special Operations Division is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Computing Systems Tec 5 to work as a member of the LANL Field Intelligence Element IT Customer Services Team to install, manage, and troubleshoot MS Windows operating systems, applications, and other core services on multiple classified computer networks and stand-alone systems. The selected candidate will work both independently and with other team members, and will be responsible for providing general end-user support. The CST-5 will also be expected to work on several diverse and challenging IT related projects in a dynamic and technically diverse environment. Additionally, the individual selected for this position will be required to work closely with cyber-security staff to help ensure compliance with technical security requirements.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated enterprise-level experience performing systems administration of MS Windows-based computing systems, including configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
Extensive experience working with MS Active Directory, including security and/or distribution group management and computer/user accounts management
Demonstrated experience working with standardized computer images or performing workstation cloning
Knowledge of and expert level experience solving complex end-user related IT issues
Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to problems and to address rapidly changing priorities
Proven experience working effectively in a team environment, including addressing interpersonal issues and interacting with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner
Experience working with or administering Linux operating systems
Experience working with network switches or routers
Experience configuring or troubleshooting video teleconferencing or VoIP systems
Active DOE Q clearance or DoD Top Secret clearance highly desired
Education:Position typically requires a high school diploma and four-to-six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, including associate’s degrees and graduation from technical institutions. Notes to Applicants:This position requires a Q access authorization. Applicants must have the ability to obtain a DOE Q and SCI clearance, which normally requires US citizenship. Duties may require work at remote locations across multiple facilities at LANL.Some travel may be required for training and certification purposes.
Clearance: Q/SCI(Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
