What You Will Do
The Associate Lab Director’s office for Chemical, Earth and Life Sciences (ALDCELS) of Los Alamos National Laboratory has an administrative student internship program to be managed at the ALDCELS level and will be administered within the three Divisions that comprise ALDCELS: Bioscience (B), Chemistry (C), and Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES).
This admin student pipeline is intended to train a student initially at the Division level to become familiar with the Division in which the student admin is initially deployed. After approximately six months, the selected student will be rotated to another Division within CELS, and then rotated to the third and final Division within CELS. During each six month period the student admin will work both at the Division level as well as the Groups within the Division, helping to form a well-rounded learning experience.
This program does not imply or guarantee that all students hired into the administrative student internship program will be selected to fill any advertised, permanent or limited term administrative positions. The overall goal of the program is for the student to gain valuable experience and knowledge of LANLs administrative processes and procedures allowing them to compete for relevant positions both internal and external to ALDCELS.
Our team is actively seeking applicants for our student administrative pipeline program. The ideal candidate would be someone who is majoring in Business Administration (or related fields, e.g. operations, management, accounting, project management, communication, etc.). Additionally, it is required that the ALDCELS student prospect will be available for work year-round, and as close to full-time as possible but at least fifty-percent time.
As an undergraduate or post bachelors administrative student, the selected interns will assist with various administrative needs to a wide variety of customers, who reside in various locations throughout the Lab footprint where the Division office, Group offices, staff offices, and laboratories are located. This job will consist of performing various administrative duties such as timekeeping, foreign and domestic travel assistance for staff, calendar management for management, records management, and facility service requests.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Provide documentation of acceptance into a related associate, undergraduate academic program.
Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester in accredited college or university degree program.
Initially have and maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week (ALDCELS program requirement).
Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage time and see tasks to completion.
Ability to produce quality work by applying attention to detail.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
