What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Computer & Information Security Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The Computer & Information Security Specialist 2/3 (Argus System Administrator) position is responsible for supporting the Argus Security System at the Los Alamos National Laboratory Department of Energy site and is the first line of system support for the Argus Security System. The Argus Security System is developed and maintained at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The Argus system is a network based distributed computerized control system with significant security and reliability features. The successful candidate will have a significant IT background in the Linux Operating Systems as a systems administrator. A significant background in Windows Server and Desktop Operating system. Ability to troubleshoot and repair networks with a working knowledge of Oracle database operations and installations.
Computer & Information Security Specialist 2 ($73,800 - $120,400)
The successful candidate will:
Maintain and test the Argus networks, host computers and peripheral IT equipment
Assist with troubleshooting systems
Perform daily checks of the security system
Work with MS Office suite – Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Maintain the integrity of computer workstations, servers, and local area networks by maintaining user accounts and upgrading systems and software.
Work alone and in a teaming environment
Computer & Information Security Specialist 3 ($89,900 - $148,300)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Computer & Information Security Specialist 3 will be required to:
Troubleshoot complex issues with computers and networks
Will procure computer hardware and manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of associated computer hardware.
Install new software and hardware components to the security system
Provide technical support, training and timely computer system data recovery.

Knowledge and 2 + years of recent Windows and Server and/or VMS Operating Systems experience at a System Administrator Level.

Understanding of and limited working experience with Ethernet communications and serial communication
Understanding of and limited working experience Storage area networks (SANs)
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex operational computer systems

In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the Computer & Information Security Specialist 3 level requires:
Advanced knowledge and 5 + years of recent Linux experience at a System Administrator Level
Advanced knowledge and 5 + years of recent Windows and Server (2008/2012/2016) and/or VMS Operating Systems experience at a System Administrator Level.
Knowledge and 5+ years of recent Microsoft Active Directory.
Networking experience/knowledge with TCP
Understanding of and working experience with Ethernet communications and serial communication.
Understanding of and limited working experience Storage Area Networks (SANs).
Extensive experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting computer and information security. Computer and Information Security Specialist 2 Education Required: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer and Information Security Specialist 3 Education Required: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

Where You Will Work
Come be part of the Laboratory’s group responsible for the Physical Security Systems (SEC-PSS) throughout the Laboratory. SEC-PSS is responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of access controls and intrusion detection and assessment systems for all LANL facilities. SEC-PSS is a hybrid group of LANS and Pro2Serve personnel. The SEC-PSS group is also responsible for:
Performance testing of security station functions for the institution;
Physical and facility security at the Laboratory ensuring new construction has the appropriate security features, vaults and closed areas are certified to NNSA standards, locks and keys are controlled and in accountability.
