The Network Infrastructure and Engineering (NIE) Division maintains LANL's computer networks, institutional computing services, and oversees LANL's adoption of cloud services. The LANL Cloud Services Team provides safe and secure access to cloud services. The Cloud team is responsible for designing and implementing a safe and secure way for LANL computer users to be able to use the ever-growing number of resources available via Cloud Service Providers. As a Cloud Engineer you will be responsible for mentoring junior staff.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Extensive experience and advanced knowledge of the administration of virtualization and cloud technologies such as OpenStack, AWS, GCP, or Azure. Strong Linux operating system skills and experience scripting automated tasks in a Linux supported language (e.g., Bash, C, Perl, Python, Java, or similar scripting languages) and programming experience. Extensive knowledge and experience in configuring and maintaining UNIX services (Kerberos, NFS, SSH, Samba, etc.) and other configuration management methodologies.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills with an ability to work with all levels of management, cyber security personnel and customers. Experience utilizing a work ticket management system to distribute work, gather metrics, and efficiently respond to customer requests.
Demonstrated experience leading and working with a technical team under time constraints. Knowledge of project management principles to set project scope, schedule, priorities, and deliverables.
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science, or a related field, and a minimum of 10 to 15+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience deploying software defined networks and anticipating future needs for hardware and software environments. Practical experience and advanced knowledge of routing, TCP/IP, and configuration VPNs.
Ability to create reliable/repeatable procedures for production use. Record of setting direction and goals for yourself and other staff.
Training/Certifications : AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or equivalent
