What You Will Do
The Applied Computer Science group (CCS-7) at Los Alamos National Laboratory has a job opening for a postdoctoral position in the computational simulation and optimization of particle applications, with a focus on Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code development. The successful candidate will work with a team of computer scientists and plasma physicists to support high performance, large-scale, explicit and implicit PIC simulations, as well as aid in the development of a particle abstraction library which relies heavily on C++ template abstraction. Additionally, this work may call for the porting of existing code to future architectures, including GPUs and beyond. This is a two-year position. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
A doctoral degree in computational plasma physics, computer science, or a related field completed within the last five years or soon to be completed
Demonstrated record of scientific achievements in scientific simulation
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to pursue research independently
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Experience writing C++ applications
Experience with GPU programming
Experience with compile time polymorphism and meta programming
Experience running large-scale, massively parallel codes in a high-performance computing environment
Experience in physics code development
Ability to create proof-of-concept implementations of novel techniques, which can eventually be taken to production-ready implementations
Adapt existing code in response to demands of future architectures
