What You Will Do

SEC-PSS provides technical support for the administrative badge reader and the security badge reader systems at the Laboratory. While working with the Administra ti ve Access Control System (AACS) Team, the selected applicants shall become fully proficient in maintaining host servers, computer worksta ti ons, fabrica ti ng, installing, tes ti ng, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment for the Access Control Security Systems. The Computer and Informa ti on Security Specialist 2/3 will also troubleshoot issues, and repair computer systems in a field environment or office environment. The selected applicant may work independently or along with a team depending on the project or trouble ti ckets.

These positions will be filled at either the Computer Information Security Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidates. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate(s) is hired at the higher level.

Computer Information Security Specialist 2 ($73,800 - $120,400)

The successful Level 2 candidate will:

  • Assist with maintaining host servers

  • Become familiar with installation, testing and repairing hardware/software of the Apollo system

  • Work with MS Office suite – Visio, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Maintain the integrity of computer worksta ti ons, servers, and local area networks by maintaining user accounts and upgrading systems and so ft ware.

Computer Information Security Specialist 3 ($89,900 - $148,300) - As well as what is described in the Level 2 position the successful Level 3 candidate will also:

  • Work with VMware VSphere 6.x, VMware View, and Windows 7 & 10.

  • Work with Windows and Server (2008/2012/2016) at a System Administrator Level.

  • Will procure computer hardware and manage the installa ti on, configura ti on, and maintenance of associated computer hardware.

  • Will troubleshoot complex opera ti onal computer and network systems.

  • Provide technical support, training and timely computer system data recovery.

  • Advanced knowledge VMware VSphere 6.x, VMware View, Windows 7 & 10.

  • Advanced knowledge and 5 + years of recent Windows and Server (2008/2012/2016) at a System Administrator Level.

Additional Job Requirements for both Levels:

In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above these levels also require:

  • Ability to work during LANL off hours to ensure lab systems are not effected during maintenance.

  • Quick learner in a fast paced computer environment.

  • Ability to work scheduled on call and perform required on call du ti es.

Desired Skills

  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking, configura ti on and equipment Cisco/Arista/Brocade.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical access control systems equipment and configura ti on.

  • Demonstrated experience with Microso ft MSSQL Data Base Administra ti on.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with VMware virtual environment technology.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with SAN Storage Area Networks.

Computer Information Security Specialist 2 Education Required: BS or BA Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related fields and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Information Security Specialist 3 Education Required: BS or BA Degree in Informa ti on Technology, Computer Science or other related fields and 8 years’ of related experience, or equivalent educa ti on and experience.

Work Environment: A majority of the work will be conducted indoors but there be a need for occasional outdoor work.
