What You Will Do
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties for this position:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering design team in support of maintaining and upgrading LANL’s facilities.
Prepare quality Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings and 3-D CAD modelling that are in compliance with LANL CAD Standards.
Interface with clients, other designers, and engineers to aid in the development of creative cost effective solutions.
Interface and coordinate with other disciplines and customers during the design and construction activities.
Promote leadership, quality, productivity, and safety values in all aspects of job duties.
Participate in field walk-downs and data gathering of existing facilities, systems, structures and components.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Designer/Drafter 5 ($72,500 - $118,200)
Extensive knowledge/experience of engineering drafting, design and detailing.
Demonstrated understanding of construction practices.
Extensive experience with Autodesk AutoCAD (2014 or higher preferred) and Revit.
Good oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and customers.
Ability to work in collaboration with a multi-discipline engineering team to ensure drawing coordination and quality.
Excellent ability to develop CAD Drawings and design models.
Ability to produce work in accordance with budget and schedule constraints.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Advanced capability to participate in process improvement activities.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Demonstrated working knowledge and application of CAD Standards (National CAD Standards –NCS).
Knowledge/understanding of industry codes and standards (IBC, UMC, UPC, ASME B31, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of computer-aided drafting techniques, CAD modeling and design and high-level 3-D parametric CAD systems. Proficient knowledge of second CAD system.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
Knowledge of relevant Laboratory procedures, standards and policies.
Advanced knowledge of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
Education: Associates degree in Engineering Drafting and Design, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 12 to 15 years of relevant drafting/design experience.
