What You Will Do
The Materials Management Specialist 1 position is in the Materials Management Group of Operations Support Division (OS-MM). As a team member of the Traffic/Shipping Operation, the Traffic/Shipping Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Traffic/Shipping Team Leader andwill support Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) programs with hazardous/non-hazardous material shipping needs, freight audit, damage claims and other duties related to logistics, as needed. Safety and Security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees.

Working knowledge of processes to ship commodities.
Experience with the logistical requirements of arranging a shipment.

Seasoned/experienced in computer based Business Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven record of dependability, excellent attendance, and reliability.
Ability to obtain Hazardous Authorized Shipper Certification.
Current or previous, Department of Transportation Hazardous/Radioactive Material Shipping Training and/or International Air Transport Association regulations training.
Current Authorized Shipper Certification.
Experience or knowledge with Traffic/Shipping Operations at a D.O.E / NNSA contractor’s facility.
Familiarity with specific computer based systems including: Oracle, Fed Ex Manager, ATLAS and other LANL based computer systems.
Knowledge of LANL programs, sites, and facilities.
Active Q Clearance.
Education: Position typically requires a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
