What You Will Do

The Sensitive and Special Operations Division (SSO) is seeking a cybersecurity technical professional for our Field Intelligence Element (FIE) Cyber Security Group. The FIE Cyber Security Group provides a secure and compliant top secret computing environment for the execution of mission-driven national security programs. The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for an information system following Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes based on publications from the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). ISSO’s are major contributors in monitoring computer systems and their environments to include developing and updating the system security plan (SSP), managing and controlling changes to the respective computer systems, and assessing the security impact of those changes. Responsibilities of an ISSO include:

  • Provide user support including user training and technical support

  • Provide customer support for account information and respond to requests in the ticketing system

  • Assist in developing, implementing, monitoring, and updating System Security Plans (SSPs) for top secret networks operated within the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)

  • Support the lead ISSO to ensure multiple networks with different requirements remain compliant and accredited through the lifecycle of the network

  • Ensure processes so that networks and information technology equipment are operated, compliant, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and procedures

  • Assist the lead ISSO in planning for the building of information technology and security compliance programs

  • Perform continuous monitoring activities with security control assessments by conducting computer log reviews

  • Ensure configuration management policies and procedures are followed and changes are approved prior to implementation

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer workstations, servers and networks

  • Technical knowledge of classic and contemporary cyber threats and vulnerabilities and demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge to system engineering, analytics, or operations

  • Ability to conceptualize and communicate elements of cyber security to both technical and non-technical personnel

  • Ability to collaborate well in a dynamic team environment

  • Ability to document a computer system environment, and strong interpersonal communication skills

  • General knowledge of distributed systems, including system architectures, computer networks, and software

  • Knowledge pertaining to automating the implementation, configuration and maintenance of NIST related standards and controls for networks and systems

Desired Skills:

  • Awareness of FIPS security controls

  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF)

  • Experience with network logging and log consolidation tools such as Splunk or Elm

  • Experience working in a classified computing environment

  • Active Q and ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance


Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field and a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Clearance: Q/SCI (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
