What You Will Do

The Science and Technology Operations (STO) Facility Operations Directorate (FOD) has an excellent opportunity for an Operations Specialist 3. It is the responsibility of the FOD to ensure that the facilities are operated and maintained in a safe and secure manner and in a ready state for mission execution. The FOD provides organizational leadership for Facility Maintenance, Operations, Environmental Safety and Health (DESH), Quality, Waste Services, Project Management and Engineering.

This position, Operations Support Specialist, provides support to the assigned Operations Manager as a member of STO-FOD.

The successful candidate is expected to assist the STO Program Manager (PM) or Operations Manager (OM) with safety basis and policy implementation and maintenance while working as part of a collaborative team. Duties include serving as an interface between the tenant organizations, support and maintenance services to ensure organizational goals and mission milestones are being met within desired time frames. This position also provides general direction, guidance, data analysis, and/or operational support to ensure the implementation and integration of operational and programmatic functions on a daily basis.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Significant knowledge of and experience with facility operations.

  • Advanced knowledge of the Laboratory's facility operations policies, practices, and procedures, and can apply them to resolve issues.

  • Experience successfully managing and controlling projects and associated budget/schedules.

  • Experience with Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance.

  • Ability to self-supervise and work under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets.

  • Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research, developing alternative solutions, and developing solutions for problems affecting facility operations and administration in creative ways for complex problems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications.

  • Exceptional customer service, organizational skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel both inside and outside the Laboratory.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, including proven ability to contribute to team efforts and accomplish team objectives.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working within formal change control and configuration management processes. This includes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and the Master Equipment List (MEL).

Education: Typically a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6-8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
