Los Alamos National Laboratory Plasma Physics Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Plasma Theory and Applications Group (XCP-6) at Los Alamos National Laboratory has a job opening for a postdoctoral position in the theory and kinetic Particle-In-Cell (PIC) modeling of laser-plasma instabilities (LPI) in Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) and High Energy Density (HED) plasmas. The successful candidate will work with a team of plasma physicists to apply high performance, large-scale, explicit and implicit VPIC simulations and analytic theory to understand the complex, nonlinear dynamics of cross beam energy transfer (CBET) and stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in ICF and HED experiments and to aid in the development of predictive nonlinear CBET and SRS models in rad-hydro codes, such as xRAGE. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
A doctoral degree in plasma physics, or a related field completed within the last five years or soon to be completed
Demonstrated record of scientific achievements in Plasma Physics (theory, simulation, or code development).
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Strong background in theoretical and/or computational kinetic plasma physics
Experience running large-scale, massively parallel codes in a high-performance computing environment
Experience in plasma physics code development
