Where You Will Work
Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.
Sigma Division is looking for candidates interested in experimentally-informed modeling of metallurgical processing to support prototype manufacturing and technology maturation programs. Positions are available coupling process simulations to several experimental areas, including: manufacturing (casting, deformation, welding, machining), solidification science, fluid dynamics, surface science, and corrosion. A successful candidate will have an interest in contributing to multi-scale modeling supporting a broad customer base, both internal and external to LANL, to advance process development for one-of-a-kind prototype components.
