Los Alamos National Laboratory Quantum Material Integration Technologist (Research Technologist 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do_

The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) is a Department of Energy, Office of Science Nanoscale Science Research Center (NSRC) and National User Facility jointly operated by Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories that focuses on cutting-edge nanoscale integration science.

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a highly skilled and motivated physicist, chemist, material scientist or engineer to support activities in deterministic creation and integration of atomic defects for quantum information technology applications as Quantum Material Integration Technologist. Candidates accomplished in research of defect-driven quantum information science, 2D TMDs, covalent functionalization of SWCNTs /TMDs, nanomaterial assembly, non-traditional electronic/photonic integration, and optoelectronic device development are also highly encouraged to apply. Highly accomplished researchers with no postdoctoral experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working as a key member of a team in development of scanning probe-based approaches for deterministic placement of nanomaterials and reactants upon prefabricated electronic/photonic devices

  • Maintaining and oversee day-to-day operation of the new capability

  • Training students, postdocs and users.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant area of science or engineering.

  • Demonstrated record of scientific research achievement (through publications, citations, and presentations) in one or more areas mentioned above.

  • Outstanding verbal skills and a record of effective scientific communication.

  • Demonstrated ability of working in a research team in development of new experimental capability

  • A strong background in scanning probe based lithography approaches with demonstrated ability in development of new approaches in scanning probe microscopy, lithography and nanomanipulation_

Desired Skills:

  • Strong background in a range of chemical and materials characterization techniques, e.g., S/TEM, XRD, NMR, FTIR, static and time-resolved spectroscopy

  • Experience in advanced nanointegration, nanoassembly, and/or nanocomposite formation techniques

  • Experience in 3D printing

  • Experience in device fabrication and testing

  • LabView and/or MathLab programming skills

  • A strong publication record

  • Ability to obtain a Q clearance, which normally requires US citizenship
