Los Alamos National Laboratory Radiation Transport Postdoctoral Research Associate in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Applied Modern Physics Group is a world leader in performing radiographic reconstructions as well as the application of radiation transport methods to develop reduced order models for photon transport. Currently, we are seeking an outstanding candidate to develop radiation transport models using Monte Carlo methods (e.g., MCNP6) and Discrete Ordinate methods to (i) generate simulated radiographic and photon spectra, (ii) validate against experimental data, (iii) generate reduced order transport models, and (iv) publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Applicants should have some experience in a relevant field and a strong desire to apply their skills to our problems.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research inradiation transport simulation using Monte Carlo techniques
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research inDiscrete Ordinate methods
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong scientific research credentials as demonstrated by a record, appropriate for experience level, of peer-reviewed conference or journal publications.
Experience with unstructured mesh techniques and/or Attila software
Experience with Green’s function techniques.
Programming capability in C and/or Python
Ability to obtain a Q-clearance, which typically requires U. S. citizenship, is strongly preferred.
Education: Ph.D. in physics or nuclear engineering, or related field, within the past five years (or soon to be completed).
