What You Will Do
The selected candidate for this position will work for W-11 as a requirements engineer in support of four weapon systems: B61, W76, W78, and W88. This position may include development, documentation and maintenance of the requirements integral to these weapon systems as well as managing any changes to these requirements as necessary. Interfacing with weapon system engineers, product realization team (PRT) leads, design physicists, and external agencies such as DoD and NNSA is an integral part of this position.
The candidate must be able to operate independently and must exercise personal initiative in successfully completing assigned tasks. Responsibilities will include eliciting requirements from a variety of sources and using requirements management software to ensure requirements are linked to current objective evidence. The position requires technical leadership and teamwork with multi-discipline system engineers, physicists, technicians, and designers. He/she will be expected to perform work in adherence to quality assurance requirements. Flexibility is a requirement, and the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate that he/she can work on multiple tasks for multiple customers with changing priorities and successfully meet customer deadlines and requirements.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Comprehensive and demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering and requirements management principles and processes.
Knowledge of IBM Rational DOORs or similar automated requirements management tool.
Thorough experience with product design engineering phases to include Concept, Design, Development and Production.
Demonstrated skills in the following areas: problem solving, conflict resolution, and customer and stakeholder interactions.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team addressing technical design projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Proven record of team building and conflict resolution.
Certified Systems Engineer (CSE) or Program Management Professional (PMP)
Experience with Doors DXL scripting language or C++ as well as an understanding of Object Oriented Design techniques
Demonstrated ability to work with standard Microsoft Office product suite applications.
Demonstrated experience in nuclear weapons development and certification.
Active Q clearance.
Education: A minimum of a BS in engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) college or university program is required.

W Division is responsible for Program Leadership and engineering design and analysis in support of the national security mission at Los Alamos National Laboratory. W Division is integral in providing programmatic and technical leadership for evaluation and maintenance of the enduring nuclear weapon stockpile, stockpile assessment, certification, and design and deployment of life extension projects.
