What You Will Do

The SI student program offers part-time or full-time internships for Graduate students. This program is designed to complement the student’s education with work experience related to their chosen field of study and future career interests. Internships are offered in the following areas: education and training, business management, communications, project management, and IT support services. Service Innovation (SI-DO) is comprised of four groups that provide critical support services LANL-wide:

Records Management Services (SI-RMS)

  • Records Management provides support for records generated by all aspects of the Laboratory’s mission, operations, and business practices. RMS assists employees with identifying, collecting, and managing records produced by the work performed here.

Document Control Services (SI-DC)

  • Supports quality-assured document control and records management procedures and processes. DCS assists in designating and configuring document management tools and systems used by document control personnel to manage, distribute, and maintain Laboratory documentation.

IT Project Management (SI-ITPM)

  • The IT Project Management (ITPM) group provides organizations with excellent IT project management support, which satisfies customer and user expectations.

Institutional Training Services (SI-ITS)

  • Institutional Training Services (ITS) supports instructional delivery, course development, content management, virtual learning experiences, and institutional course management for the Laboratory. We accomplish this support through a variety of teams and specialists, all oriented toward fulfilling the Laboratory's mission and improving the learning experience for its employees.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Must have an interest in project management or business management, Information Technology, document or records management, training, education, or communication.

  • Eligibility is limited to students who are admitted or active in a graduate program, and who initially have and maintain a cumulative 3.2/4.0 GPA.

Additional Details:

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
