What You Will Do
Reporting to the SAFE-NMCA Program Lead at TA-55, the selected candidate will perform LANMAS transactions in support of TA-55 Operations including mix and split, containerization, updating items after measurement, editing, etc. to ensure compliance with DOE/NNSA requirements. Interpret inventory transaction(s) to ensure good business practices and adherence to policies on accounting for nuclear materials. Perform Inventory adjustments based on measurements, measurement analysis, and evaluation of item/batch activity. Create/edit PMFDs, and perform cross-walk analysis to relevant procedures to ensure that MC&A requirements are covered under their authorizing documents. Assist in closing out Physical Inventory Action forms. Ability to identify inventory issues and perform anomalous item investigations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Working knowledge of accounting and financial concepts and principles.
Working knowledge of LANMAS transactions, including mix and split, containerization, updating items after measurement, editing, etc. to ensure compliance with DOE/NNSA requirements.
Knowledge and/or experience interpreting inventory transactions to ensure good business practices and adherence to policies on accounting for nuclear materials.
Experience performing inventory adjustments based on measurements, measurement analysis, and evaluation of item/batch activity.
Knowledge and/or experience with the process to create/edit PMFDs, and perform cross-walk analysis to relevant procedures to ensure that MC&A requirements are covered under their authorizing documents.
Knowledge of process for closing out Physical Inventory Action forms.
Experience identifying inventory issues and performing anomalous item investigations highly desired.
Knowledge of MC&A requirements as outlined in DOE M 474.2, LANL PD 205, and the LANL MC&A Plan
Knowledge and/or experience in MC&A activities and NM Control.
Problem solving skills to ensure that accounting activities are consistent with MC&A regulatory drivers and generally accepted accounting principles.
Working knowledge of policies relating to security, transportation and safety.
Experience with Microsoft Office in generating reports, presentations, and trending.
Ability to interface with all levels of management, technical, and non-technical personnel.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field and 2-3 years of relevant experience, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

The Nuclear Material Control and Accountability group (SAFE-NMCA) is responsible for overseeing all nuclear material operations at Los Alamos National Laboratory including maintaining the Laboratory’s official record of its nuclear material holdings. The group is responsible for maintenance and enhancement of the nuclear material accounting system and other institutional-level software. These responsibilities result in a high, sustained operational tempo as well as significant scrutiny from both internal and external customers.
