What You Will Do

Join our dynamic team within Infrastructure Services Division, Network Services (ISD-NS) and embark on an exciting journey as part of the Data Center Team across our esteemed Laboratory. As a key member, you will play an integral role in providing unparalleled support for both classified and unclassified computer networks utilized within the organization.

You will serve as a member of the Data Center Team, which is responsible for providing operational support for core services across Institutional Support Division. You will be responsible for providing support for 8 data centers.

Responsibilities:
  • Performing data center operations work including equipment installation/removal.
  • Installation/removal of fiber and copper cables with emphasis on cable management.
  • Validating and providing access to different secure areas and physical securities.
  • Responding to customer inquiries and providing timely solutions to end-user problems using ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Coordinating with facilities in regard to Power and Cooling infrastructure and maintenance.
  • Writing and modification of processes and procedures to ensure standards are upheld.
  • Contributing to the development of new and efficient methods of managing data centers and accommodating the array of tenants who reside in them.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated strong troubleshooting skills, with emphasis across all Information Technology related fields including software manipulation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data center power and cooling systems, including: PDUs, UPS, Fiber & Coper cabling.
  • Advanced proven ability to work as part of a team with good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with demonstrated experience writing and implementing new processes.
  • Experience following change management, incident management, and maintenance procedures in a production environment.
  • Experience installing datacenter equipment, including (but not limited to) servers, network devices, PDUs, Racks. Including the use of various hand tools and such as but not limited to: Drills, screwdrivers, hammers, socket wrenches.


Education/Experience:
Position typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Information Technology best practices with an emphasis on the Physical Layer.
  • Power and/or cooling infrastructure requirements in a high availability environment such as a data center with a heavy emphasis on power usage effectiveness methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Data Center Inventory Management software solutions.
  • Additional certifications that align with the requirements and job functions.
  • User must have a Q clearance or be able to obtain a Q clearance

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
