What You Will Do

You will work as a member of the Technical Area 55 Division (TA55-DO), Process Maintenance and Decontamination Services group (TA55-PMDS), Decon & Plant Wide Maintenance Support team for the Weapons Production Facilities. This team provides routine room wipe-down activities and decontamination services to reduce risk to programmatic operations, operating primarily on the off-shift, additionally supporting activities assigned to Mechanical Process Equipment & Gloveboxes and Programmatic Maintenance teams that perform maintenance on programmatic equipment and glovebox support systems in support of program deliverables. You will support these activities, reporting to a Manufacturing Manager 1 (MM1) for day-to-day work assignments and oversight providing proper span of control for the team's Manufacturing Manager 3 (MM3)/First Line Manager (FLM). All team members participate in preparing, reviewing, and working to approved work authorizing documents, working with team members that may be responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance of programmatic equipment both within the organization and across Programmatic groups, as well as the decontamination, decommissioning, and demolition of process equipment used at all Weapons Production Facilities.

  • Working knowledge understanding and following verbal instructions and to read, understand, and follow directions provided in written emails.
  • Experienced working both independently, proactively, and self-directed and collaboratively, cohesively, and collectively as part of a solution-driven team.
  • Working knowledge and experience reading and understand drawings, layouts, floor plans, and other related planning tools.
  • Working knowledge and experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems.
  • DOE Order 426.2 requires high school diploma


Education/Experience:

Position require an Associates' Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Q-Clearance and HRP-Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, Conduct of Engineering, Integrated Safety Management, and Pause Work.
  • Demonstrated experience to accurately document work activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer applications.
  • Experience with decontamination of radioactive contamination or hazardous materials.

Essential Job Functions(can perform with or without reasonable accommodation):

Ability to speak, reading, vision, sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, twisting the trunk or back, bending, kneeling, balancing, applying torque with hands or arms, use of both hands, use of both arms, carrying 10-20 pounds, lifting 30+ pounds.

Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Work Schedule

Position may require 24/7 coverage and require working a shift schedule. The person filling this position may be required to work non-normal business hours, swing/grave shift, weekends, and on-call assignments as required to meet facility objectives. Depending on the position, the person in this position may be eligible for additional compensation due to the swing/shift schedule. These shifts typically fall into two categories: swing, normally 4:00 p.m. to 12 midnight and graveyard, normally 12 midnight to 8:00 a.m.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance:Q L or Q or Q/SCI(Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
