Engineered Systems Tech (Engineered Systems Tec 3/4)

What You Will Do

The Accelerator Operations and Technology Division (AOT) is seeking an Engineered System Tech 3 or 4 for the Instrumentation and Controls Group - Controls Hardware Team.

AOT provides leadership in the Laboratory's core capability of Accelerators and Electrodynamics, which enables charged particle acceleration through controlled utilization of electromagnetic fields. Additionally, AOT supports National Security missions involving radiographic imaging, remote measurements of electromagnetic signatures, and development of new accelerator technology. AOT operates the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) proton accelerator complex, and conducts applied research and development in accelerator-focused technologies. The Instrumentation and Controls Group (AOT-IC) within AOT designs, develops, and maintains industrial control and instrumentation for LANSCE.

The successful candidate for this position will work as a member of the AOT-IC Hardware team, which has the primary responsibility of supporting industrial control, instrumentation, and data acquisition hardware at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center.

This position will be filled at either the Engineered Systems Tec 3 or Engineered Systems Tec 4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Engineered Systems Tec 3 ($54,600-$84,500)

You will work in a team environment and participate in activities that span from maintenance and upgrades of current systems, to participation in design activities that will lead to the development of future instrumentation and control systems. Your activities on any given workday will vary between troubleshooting and maintaining existing AOT-IC systems, fabricating/assembling new systems, deploying new systems, soldering, assembling cables, wiring chassis and junction box components, and working with project teams to upgrade or develop new systems.

Engineered Systems Tec 4 ($65,700-$104,400)

In addition to the responsibilities at the level 3, the Engineered Systems Tec 4 applies more extensive knowledge and skills to complete specialized tasks. They work independently with minimal oversite, prepare documentation, engage with staff on engineering designs and perform complex installations, maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems.
