What You Will Do

The Post Bachelors Internship Program is a year-round internship program that provides students with relevant professional experience while pursuing an undergraduate degree. Students are able to work with professionals in a variety of career fields while using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The Finance Post Bachelors Internship Program is designed for the student pursuing their undergraduate degree in the Business Field. Students will be placed in various positions in the Finance Organization.

The Finance Division delivers financial products and services in support of the Laboratory's mission. Our Financial management focus includes the following:

• Perform work in the Finance and Administrative Fields.

• Integrating processes and systems across the Finance Division.

• Providing quality business processes and systems throughout the Laboratory.

• Partnering with the programs and technical divisions to strengthen our business capabilities.

• Providing stewardship of Laboratory, NNSA and sponsor resources.

• Building alliances with NNSA, DOE, LASO, and the ABQ Service Center.

• Maintain a safe and secure working environment.

• Work as a team member with direction from your mentor.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.

• Must have received a bachelor's degree within the last three years.

• Must not be accepted and enrolled in a graduate program (recently enrolled graduate students should explore employment opportunities within the Laboratory's Graduate Internship Program).

• Pass a new employment drug test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new employment drug test and maintain a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance which typically requires US citizenship.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience and/or education in the field of business.

• Experience with Microsoft Excel.

Features of the Program:

• The Post-Baccalaureate category offers college graduates the opportunity to participate in the Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) Program after graduation.

• This category applies to those interns who have been awarded a bachelor's degree within the past three years but have not yet been accepted and enrolled in a graduate program. Post-baccalaureate interns may remain in this category for up to two years

• Interns should use this appointment to prepare for graduate school acceptance (e.g., GRE/GMAT exams, applications, etc.). An intern may move into GRA status when documentation is provided indicating the intern's intention to accept an offer of admission to a graduate program.

Education Required:

• Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accountancy or related discipline within the past three years.

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Where You Will Work

Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. LANL enhances national security by ensuring the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, developing technologies to reduce threats from weapons of mass destruction, and solving problems related to energy, environment, infrastructure, health, and global security concerns.
Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
