Hardware/Software Systems Integrator (Scientist 2)

What You Will Do

Come join the brightest minds at the most innovative R&D facility supporting our national security! The Applied Computer Science Group (CCS-7) is looking for a hardware and software systems expert interested in bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to tackle challenging problems in hardware and software research efforts related to maintaining and evolving the ASC CSSE program's extremely heterogeneous Darwin research cluster. This cluster is a continually evolving mix of leading-edge compute, network, and storage technology combined into a testbed environment that allows projects to explore potential solutions to computationally challenging scientific problems. The team is seeking applicants with experience maintaining heterogeneous computing systems with a demonstrated strength in network management to focus on redesign and reimplementation of the cluster network and storage infrastructure.

The CCS-7 group brings new ideas and enthusiasm to tackle challenging problems in programming models, languages, compilers, and runtime and toolchain technologies in support of both contemporary and emerging processor architectures across a variety of application domains. Our goals range from improving performance, developer productivity, and modernizing the overall programming environment. Our work is often done in collaboration with academia and industry as well as collaborators across the broader Department of Energy community.

CCS-7 is part of CCS Division which is a vibrant scientific research and development organization that works in multiple mission areas of Los Alamos National Laboratory. The division focuses on research and development in fundamental computer science, computational physics, algorithms, high-performance computing, statistics, and applied mathematics.
