Plasmonic Nanomaterials Scientist 2 | Los Alamos, NM | Los Alamos National Laboratory

Plasmonic Nanomaterials Scientist 2

What You Will Do

The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) invites outstanding candidates for an experimental scientist position in the Nanophotonics and Optical Nanomaterials (NPON) thrust. CINT is a national user facility funded by the DOE Office of Science to provide research capabilities in nanoscience to a worldwide community of users. Scientific thrusts in CINT include: Nanophotonics and Optical Nanomaterials; Quantum Materials Systems; Soft, Biological and Composite Nanomaterials; and In-Situ Characterization and Nanomechanics. Additional information on the user facility is available at https://cint.lanl.gov.

The successful candidate will perform scientific research both independently and collaboratively with CINT users, in areas related to the NPON thrust's research themes including design, fabrication, and characterization of metamaterials and nanoplasmonics, optical characterization of nanomaterials and nanostructures, and integration of active nanomaterials and nanostructures. The candidate must have a strong background in micro- and nano-fabrication as well as nanomaterial integration. Expertise in experimental metamaterials and nanoplasmonics is highly desirable. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to develop collaborative relationships with both CINT users and other CINT scientists, particularly in micro- and nano-fabrication. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to interact with sponsors to develop and contribute to other fundamental and applied research programs. Taken together, the position requires an independently driven and team-oriented scientist.

The position will be supported at 50% by the CINT program, and the other 50% will come from other research programs. The successful candidate will reside either in the CINT Core facility at Albuquerque, NM, or in CINT Gateway at Los Alamos, NM.
