What You Will Do

The Plutonium Facilities Engineering Division (PFE-DO) is looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Project Leader. As a valued member of the business team, this position provides leadership and oversight of projects that include supporting the enhancement of organizational growth and employee engagement, compiling data to create and update hiring and attrition reporting, while maintaining and executing division-wide recruiting strategy and initiating new and ongoing partnerships. This position will partner with both internal and external customers to strengthen operations, increase operational formality by bringing the right expertise together to encourage organizational growth, better understanding of the needs of stakeholders and customers, integrating business operations with the execution of technical work, and enabling simultaneous excellence to better deliver on the national security mission.

Minimum Job Requirements:


Leadership, Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Experience with oral and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to prepare clear, concise and informative presentations, reports, correspondence and other written materials. Ability to develop and nurture effective internal customer relationships, and staff at LANL, building trust, gaining consensus and engaging people.

Impact, Decision Making and Problem Solving
Knowledge of processes, tools, and any associated training that may be required for three or more of the following focus areas: issues and corrective actions management; risk characterization; contract management; metrics development, monitoring and trending, developing pipelines, succession planning and people development.

Influence
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. Experience working closely with programs and line management to ensure performance including overseeing small project(s) in the planning, tracking, and execution of project plans from initiation to completion.

Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure and programs, including the technical or operational discipline of the assigned portfolio(s).
  • Experience working with a variety of auxiliary support organizations to accomplish work in an efficient manner.
  • Experience translating hiring needs into project plans tied to growth goals.
  • Experience building new and maintain existing partnerships for hiring at LANL.
  • Active Q clearance.

Work Schedule: Options include 9/80s, 4/10s, 5/8s, 4.05/40s.

Work Location:
This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment:
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
