Serve as a Science-Engineer Program Manager 3 (SE/PM 3) in the Plutonium Mission Consolidated Support (PMCS) office, which is managed by ALDWP Production Enterprise Services. PMCS is responsible for the management of crosscutting support services that enable consistent, efficient, and standardized operations across all plutonium mission areas. The selected individual will provide vision, strategic and tactical planning support for a portfolio that oversees approximately $400M of scope in FY26 executed by multiple LANL ALDs.

Program Management
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience collaborating with executive-level internal and external stakeholders to strategize, develop, and define program objectives, milestones, and scope. This individual must demonstrate a proven ability to establish, manage, and continuously monitor LOE work scopes across multiple initiatives to ensure consistent delivery in accordance with organizational priorities, schedule expectations, and budget constraints. The candidate should also have a strong track record of proactively identifying variances from approved baselines across a portfolio of efforts, assessing impacts, and implementing timely and effective corrective actions and recovery plans to maintain program stability and stakeholder confidence.
Technical Experience
- Direct experience working in a high-hazard nuclear facility, with a documented record of technical contribution.
- Experience in the design, implementation, or management of support services within a high-hazard nuclear environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop long-term operational strategies aligned with the missions and evolving needs of high-hazard nuclear facilities.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and/or classified matter in accordance with Laboratory and regulatory requirements.
Effective Communication
- Demonstrated Experience in interacting effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. Experience in developing and nurturing effective customer relationships.
- Proven experience writing technical documentation, strategic plans, and progress reports, and communicating clearly with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a science or engineering related field from an accredited institution and 8 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level an advanced degree is typically expected.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying and implementing business process improvements
- Working understanding of LANL plutonium missions.
- Previous experience in supporting work in a production agency.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Advanced technical degree.
- Willingness to take initiative on new tasks or projects.
- Experience utilizing EVMS principles.
- Experience managing/overseeing personnel.
- Active DOE Q clearance.
Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
