This position will be filled at either the QAA 2 or QAA 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The W93 System Development and Realization Group (Q-20) is seeking a Quality Assurance Analyst 2/3 to be part of the Action Officer (AO) team and provide support directly to the United Kingdom's (UK) A21/Mk7 () Programme. The W93/Mk7 program is working in parallel with the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) and the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) to develop the A21/Mk7 system. The AO will partner closely with the U.S./UK A21/Mk7 team to support multiple program priorities, using formal, established communication channels to participate in and host program and technical interchanges in support of program objectives. The AO is responsible for identifying and coordinating completion of action items crossing multiple organizational boundaries, coordination and completion of program documentation, and establishing and maintaining a credible and reliable rapport with the federal program office.
This is an opportunity to be part of the United States' first new weapon system program in over 30 years. Q-20, W93/Mk7 Systems Development and Realization Group, defines, develops, and fields the warhead system for the newest Navy sub-launched ballistic missile weapon program. We support the Department of Defense/Navy Strategic Systems Program and Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) customers in defining the mission need and corresponding technical and programmatic requirements. The W93 collaborates closely with Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) and Lockheed Martin Space design agencies, developing the re-entry system, ensuring safe, secure, & reliable warhead performance and a relevant nuclear deterrent. Q-20 also incorporates the production agency teams (KCNSC, Pantex, SRS, Y-12, LANL, and SNL) tightly into the design, qualification, and realization processes.
Quality Assurance Analyst 2 $78,700-$125,100
The action officer will interface with technical and programmatic staff internal and external to Q-20 and the Laboratory to use established program communication channels to host or participate in various technical and program interchanges with the NNSA, DoD, MOD, and AWE. They will also work with LANL staff and the LANL UK Program Office in the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Physics to develop and submit trip reports and other U.S./UK formal documentation, schedule and support formal training and briefing sessions to enable US staff to support various meetings and collaborate across NNSA sites to align and deliver updates to formal action items. The AO is also the primary point of contact for meeting scheduling, video teleconferencing arrangements, document transmittals both to and from the UK, and external questions to the LANL U.S./UK integration team.
Quality Assurance Analyst 3 $94,500-$154,600
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this higher level, the action officer will attend and represent LANL interests at the U.S./UK Programme Working Group and the Programme Planning Working Group, interacting with program and technical staff from across the NNSA, DoD and the UK. The AO may also provide UK transmissibility training to technical and program staff.

Data Management: Advanced experience with configuration management and quality control pertaining to data gathering and process improvement activities
Collaboration: Demonstrated record of leading and maintaining successful cross-organization teams.
Communication: Experience developing and providing briefings to all levels of staff.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working with and protecting sensitive information and/or classified matter.
- Active Q Clearance, equivalent DoD clearance, or the ability to obtain an Active Q Clearance
Position commitment:
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
