What are plutonium missions?

Los Alamos National Laboratory is home to the Plutonium Facility, known as PF-4, which is the nation's most modern plutonium science and manufacturing facility where we do everything from research and development for the nation's nuclear stockpile to making nuclear power sources for NASA deep space missions. More than a thousand employees support the work in PF-4, from scientists and engineers to administrative and human resources professionals, manufacturing and warehouse specialists, waste processing experts, safety and security personnel and more.
