What You Will Do
Occupational Health and Safety Division is an Environment, Safety and Health (ADESH) Directorate multi-disciplinary and cross-functional organization with a focus on integrating health protection and health promotion services and programs for the Laboratory to enable mission success. The Ergonomics, Health, and Wellness Team is part of Occupational Health, whose mission is focused on creating a safe and healthy workforce through injury prevention and health promotion services and programs.
The position will provide office ergonomics services to employees within the Associate Directorate for Business Innovation (ADBI). ADBI employees use technology-drive solutions to provide superior service to provide a variety of business services including Human Resources, Information Technology, and Acquisition Services Management. This position will be housed within the Ergonomics, Health and, Wellness Team.
Reporting to the EHAW Team Leader, this position will be responsible for: performing professional office and office ergonomic evaluations for customers so they promptly receive recommendations and equipment; providing educational services to ADBI and LANL employees such as staffing health fairs and providing ergonomics-related presentations to employees; assisting with special projects for core LANL projects as needed.
This position is required to promote safety, security, and quality in all operations; promote teamwork within and across the Laboratory, and promote a positive work environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
Perform Office Ergonomics evaluations including evaluation, delivering/picking up loaner equipment, equipment fittings and follow up to ensure employee comfort, productivity and satisfaction.
Working knowledge of Office Ergonomic Demonstration Resource Room.
Maintain evaluation records via an online footprints ticketing database.
Staffing Health Fairs to showcase LANL’s available office and non-office ergonomics resources.
Providing educational presentations and training related to ergonomics practices.
Track ADBI staffing levels in order to ensure all employees are offered access to ergonomics services, including new employees and employees who have not been seen in the past 3 years.
Collaborate with other ADBI ergonomics staff to manage ADBI ergonomics equipment inventory including: distributing equipment, tracking inventory levels and forecasting budget needs to refill inventory.
Collaborate with other ADBI ergonomics staff to provide regular reports of ergonomics services rendered to ADBI management and Ergonomics Program.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Prior experience in office ergonomics, physical therapy, kinesiology, occupational therapy, sports science or related fields
Experience managing small projects were one or more team members must coordinate skills to deliver a product or service to a customer.
Skill in the preparation and presentation of ergonomics or health related scientific research and its practical application to a diverse audience.
Knowledge of and experience with patient advocacy and occupational health issues including protection of patient health information.
Strong organizational skills across multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong customer service skills.
- Ergonomics certification such as those provided by the Board of Certification in ProfessionalErgonomics (AEP, CPE, CEA), Certified Ergonomic Evaluation Specialist, Oxford Research Institute (CIE, CAE) or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in ergonomics, physical therapy, kinesiology, occupational therapy, sports science or related fields from an accredited university
