What You Will Do

This position will be filled at the either Systems Analyst 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Systems Analyst 1 ($71,200 - $112,900)

As a Systems Analyst 1, you'll gain hands on experience in analyzing and resolving system issues, learning how to evaluate business processes, and assisting with application configurations to meet user needs. You will work alongside experienced team members to support software implementations, develop documentation, and execute testing plans. This role is designed for individuals eager to learn, contribute, and thrive in an evolving technical landscape.

Systems Analyst 2 ($85,900 - $139,900)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level you will take a more strategic role. You will start to lead requirements gathering initiatives, contribute to solution design, and independently resolve complex issues. You will work closely with key stakeholders to analyze data, configure applications, and optimize workflows that support the LANL mission. Your ability to balance technical expertise with business needs will be crucial in planning and executing system improvements, ensuring seamless functionality, and driving successful project outcomes.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Ability to document, design, or evaluating software and business processes to meet software requirements.
  • Ability to write and read query languages (such as SQL and/or NoSQL).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages related to software testing (such as JavaScript, SenseTalk, or Eggplant).
  • Experience identifying and resolving technical issues, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

In addition to the requirements above, candidates for the Systems Analyst 2 position will need to meet the following requirements:
  • Knowledge of application development tools and software lifecycle activities for COTS or custom applications.
  • Knowledge of application configuration management such as GoogleDocs, Sharepoint, or DropBox.
  • Skilled in multitasking across projects and tasks with tight deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Experience in customer support and engagement, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system functionality aligns with user requirements.
  • Familiarity with documenting workflows and lifecycles for documents and business processes using tools like Visio or other diagramming utilities.

Education/Experience at the lower level: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education/Experience at the higher level: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Postgraduate degree in related field may serve as years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in multi-tier IT support, including help desks and technical support services.
  • Familiarity with Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and work management tools (Jira, ServiceNow).
  • Experience with Confluence, wiki tools, or web content management applications.
  • Familiarity with IT business processes and enterprise application management and development.
  • Experience working with document control and records management systems, such as Documentum and Aproove.

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position has the potential for remote work. Remote work is defined as working offsite that is greater than 2 hours of the Laboratory location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
