Los Alamos National Laboratory 2021 Summer High School Internship Program in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Summer High School Internship Program provides qualified northern New Mexico high school seniors the opportunity to develop skills and gain work experience, while receiving exposure to a variety of career fields. Students who participate in this program have the opportunity to intern during the summer, prior to beginning their senior year of high school.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Students who wish to participate in the High School Internship Program must meet all the following requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years of age at the time the internship begins

  • Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • Attend a high school located in northern New Mexico

  • Pass a pre-employment drug test

  • Apply during the spring semester of your junior year in order to be considered for an internship the summer prior to beginning your senior year

Note to Applicants:

Application Requirements : In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements, students must do the following:

  • Students must upload a cover letter, resume, and current unofficial transcript in the online iRecruitment application.

  • The cover letter should describe key aspects of the applicant’s background and include two or three academic areas of interest.

  • The application and required documents must be submitted by 11:59PM on April 12th, 2021 deadline.

Additional Details

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Non-U.S. Citizens: Non-U.S. citizens selected for an internship will need prior approval to visit the Lab. Approval in the Foreign Visits Tracking System (FVTS) is required before the internship can begin. FVTS approvals can take 30-120 days to process.

Summer Application Period: The summer application begins on January 1st, 2021 and ends on April 12th, 2021 at 11:59PM.
