Los Alamos National Laboratory Acquisition Operations Specialist 2 (Purchase Card Associate) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do_
The Purchase Card Program, Procurement Group and ASM Division are team environments that require excellent customer service skills, a high level of productivity, attention to detail, and accuracy from all employees. Successful performance of this position includes:
Providing in-depth customer service support through policy interpretation and procedural guidance, redirection and recommendations on the utilization of various alternate Procurement options when indicated, and counseling of cardholders through transaction/policy infractions and resulting remedial action
Independently conducting thorough monthly cardholder desktop audits and participating in quarterly program audits
Making decisions on issues such as allow-ability of cost where guidelines may be vague or presenting problems have unique or somewhat complex variables; making the initial determination to initiate sanction procedures when infractions have occurred; and participating in report generation, inquiry response, and/or data calls for internal and external stakeholders.
Conducting institutional training for cardholders and approving officials, and, within the scope of this position’s assigned authority, write, recommend and/or implement various operational policies and procedures, particularly those that assure adherence to organizational and institutional internal control and CQI/Process Improvement initiatives.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Working knowledge of Procurement principles and practices.
Demonstrated successful experience in policy interpretation, auditing of transactional or similar type of program, and high-level customer support.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Proven success in and ability to prioritize work assignments, meet established deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated experience maintaining and utilizing a high degree of judgment and discretion.
Proven record of teamwork and consensus building.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of Laboratory or Federal procurement requirements and programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of Laboratory purchase card policies and procedures and experience/proficiency with the Laboratory’s Purchase Card System.
Working knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices.
Education:Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience or degree commensurate with required experience.
