Four-Day Weeks That Fit Your Life
Our new shift work team supports increased operations for our national security missions at the nation’s only Plutonium Facility here at Los Alamos. Night and weekend shifts are on a 4/10 schedule – four days per week for 10 hours per day.

Night-Shift Differentials and
Saturday/Sunday Premium Pay:
Employees regularly assigned to a swing and/or night shift (i.e., shifts B and D) will be paid a shift differential for each hour worked. Premium pay is paid to an employee whose regular assignment includes work between midnight on Friday and midnight on Sunday. The premium is in addition to any shift differential pay and is not applicable to wages earned from sick leave, PTO, compassionate care leave or other authorized absences.

Human Reliability Program (HRP)
The Human Reliability Program is a security and safety reliability program designed to ensure that only individuals who have demonstrated the highest degree of individual reliability for allegiance, trustworthiness, conduct, behavior, and responsibility shall be allowed to perform duties associated with certain materials, nuclear explosive devices, facilities, and programs those individuals shall be continuously evaluated for adherence to HRP standards.
The Human Reliability Program requires the selection and retention of only those personnel who are emotionally stable, physically capable, and who have demonstrated reliability and professional competence. Individuals who do not meet or maintain program standards shall not be selected for, or retained in, the Human Reliability Program or assigned duties associated with the protection of and/ or access to Special Nuclear Material (SNM).
Those trusted with HRP duties have an obligation to report any behavior or circumstance about themselves or others in HRP that may affect reliability or result in an unsafe or insecure condition.
Any individual who fails to meet the reliability standards specified will not be assigned to, or continued in, duties of a HRP position (see HRP Workers and Supervisors link below).
Preliminary Eligibility Requirements for HRP applicants
- DOE Q Access Authorization (individuals who hold an interim Q Access Authorization are not eligible to apply for HRP)
- No use of any hallucinogen in the preceding five years and no experience of flashback resulting from the use of any hallucinogen more than five years before applying for certification.

DOE Order 426.2a: This Order establishes selection, training, qualification, and certification requirements for all contractor personnel who, by action or inaction, can affect compliance with the safety basis of a Hazard Category 1, 2, or 3 nuclear facilities.
Q Security Clearance:
Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (This link opens a new tab) for additional information.
There are not currently any transportation options for the night or weekend shifts. However, this is something that we are investigating.
