Los Alamos National Laboratory Active IR-Visible Metamaterial/Metasurface Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (MPA-CINT) group is pleased to invite exceptional candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in active metamaterial/metasurface project starting Oct. 1, 2020.
We are seeking an independent and creative candidate with outstanding record of accomplishments and a strong background in experimental physics or engineering. The primary job responsibility includes developing active hybrid metasurfaces working at mid-IR wavelength by integrating electrically/thermally tunable nano-materials. While the available postdoctoral position is mainly in experiment, our team efforts include theoretical modeling, numerical simulations, structural designs and nano-/micro-fabrications, and free space IR/optical/terahertz characterizations.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
A PhD degreecompleted within the last five years or soon to be completedin Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Material Science orin an appropriate discipline.
Demonstrated record of scientific achievement through publications and presentations.
Good communication skills.
Ability to conduct independent research.
Proficient in nano-/micro- fabrication.
Research experience in metamaterials/metasurfaces.
Experience in designing, fabricating, and testing active metamaterials, metasurfaces, and frequency selective surfaces.
Previous experience in full-wave numerical simulations using commercial packages or open source codes.
Knowledge and experience in IR measurements and characterizations.
Experience in thin film characterization.
Education: PhD in related field completed within the last five years or soon to be completed. Must be completed by hire date.
