Los Alamos National Laboratory Analytical/Isotope Chemist Post-Master's Student in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES) Division in Los Alamos National Laboratory has an immediate opening for a post-masters isotope/analytical chemist. The selected candidate will work with PIs on various research projects including managing a stable isotope laboratory. The successful applicant should have a demonstrated hands-on experience working in a stable isotope laboratory media. This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and available funding.
The selected candidate will reside in Earth System Observations Group (EES-14). EES-14 has diversified instruments including:
Two stable isotope laboratories equipped with three isotope ratio mass spectrometers (MAT253, Delta V, Isoprime)
A number of peripherals (GC IsoLink, TC/EA, EA, GC-MS, laser fluorination line, etc.).
Additional instruments are available for new career development, including Perkin Elmer ICP-MS NexION 300S, ELAN 6100, OES Optima 2100DV, Dionex HPLC Ultimate 3000, ICS-2100
OI Analytical Aurora 1030 TOC Analyzer, XRF and XRD.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Excellent writing and communication skills
Proven hands-on experience in operating isotope ratio mass spectrometers.
Demonstrated experience or education in analytical chemistry or geochemistry.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in stable isotope lab.
Strong communication and language skills.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team.
Education: M.Sc. degree received within the last three years in the area of geochemistry, analytical chemistry, or similar chemistry discipline and have not yet been accepted into another master's program or Ph.D. program.
