What You Will Do

Reporting to the Innovation Assets System and Processes Leader within The Richard P. Feynman Center for Innovation (FCI), the Assets System and Processes Specialist will serve on a small team of FCI Specialists charged with ensuring data integrity and reporting, supporting cybersecurity, software and applications support, property management support activities, data analytics, and report building.

The Assets System and Processes Specialist will help build trust and credibility across stakeholders and create a unifying culture of cross-division collaboration. The selected candidate must possess excellent communication skills and understand how to balance persistence and patience in accomplishing short-range and long-range projects. The selected candidate should be subject matter expert with auditing and testing of reporting tools, database systems and be creative in approaches for using tools to optimize processes, provide data analytics, and support FCI activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting intellectual property management, agreements management, and contract management as necessary to meet the contractual obligations and operate within policies established for the Laboratory and any corresponding DOE orders.

  • Working with staff and managers to build a culture that values intellectual property in both commercialization and program development strategies.

  • Working with the team to ensure that a level of configuration management commensurate with data importance and risk tolerances is in place for management of information systems and processes.

  • Assisting in providing data analysis of intellectual property and agreements.

  • Ensuring a high level of overall systems quality and data integrity through careful management, oversight, testing, and auditing of FCI information systems

  • Developing guides, templates, documentation, and forms which can be integrated into a variety of systems to support daily work and improve processes while maintaining compliance.

  • Assisting line management in implementing the cyber security program.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing data analysis of intellectual property and agreements.

  • Proven experience with customer relationships in private industry, universities, national laboratories, state and local governments, and/or communities.

  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues, improve data integrity, and provide real-time statistics to teams within the division.

  • Demonstrated experience in desktop and mobile systems and how they affect cybersecurity and data access in a government or national laboratory environment.

  • Demonstrated basic business analysis and system analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in applying critical thinking to solving complex problems, presenting options, and making recommendations.

  • Demonstrated experience managing time critical projects with constrained resources and dynamically evolving requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Federal, DOE, and Laboratory technology transfer policies and/or standard university technology transfer practices.

  • Knowledge of SQL for designing queries and reports.

  • Knowledge of desktop software tools and applications for protection of data.

  • Familiarity working with systems and applications support in a government environment

  • Familiarity with project management processes.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline and a minimum of five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced degree preferred.
