What You Will Do

This position is based in the Institutional Quality (IQPA-IQ) group and reports to the IQPA-IQ Team Leader. The selected candidate will be a part of IQPA-IQ's Core team who are responsible for implementing QA requirements Laboratory wide. The successful candidate will need to have the expertise to develop, implement, and evaluate processes, procedures and applications contributing to the overall objectives of maintaining an effective quality assurance program.

The candidate will be responsible for providing assistance to LANL customer organizations on quality assurance issues and activities.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience with Quality Assurance Standards, such as 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order Demonstrated knowledge and experience of 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, ASME NQA-1—2008/ASME NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, NAP-24, and/or U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with quality concepts and principles and how these are applied.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and supporting quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits.

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and presenting reports.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of customers and management.

  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas and associated tools: assessments; lessons learned; risk characterization; and issues and corrective actions management.

Desired Skills :

  • Experience in the preparation of quality assurance (QA) procedures for review, approval, and issues in accordance with approved Laboratory procedures.

  • Experience with various types of databases.

  • A high level of personal motivation/standards and the ability to work within changing situations to meet deadlines.

Education: This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or a minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

The Institutional Quality and Performance Assurance Division (IQPA) provides contractor assurance, institutional quality assurance (QA), performance management, and independent assessment services to customers throughout the Laboratory.

The Institutional Quality (IQ) group supports the Laboratory by assisting organizations ensure quality work is executed consistently and effectively across the institution. The IQ mission is to integrate quality requirements into processes, validate that policies and programs meet regulatory and customer requirements and expectations, and develop/manage electronic systems to support the IQPA division institutional programs.
