Reporting to the Benefits Manager and being part of a benefits team, the ideal candidate will be responsible for but not limited to oversight, administration, and communication of the Laboratory's benefits program regarding plan administration, plan design, plan options, policy features, enrollment, and compliance with federal and state laws.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Basic knowledge of federal and state laws governing benefits compliance, including HIPPA, ERISA, FMLA, etc. and 401(k) administration. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting basic research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting benefits administration.
Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully and proactively work as part of team to support customers and other identified stakeholders including committees, internal and external consultants/vendors, retirees, and all levels of internal staff, managers, and executives. Requires strong communication skills, good writing skills and strong customer service. Must be comfortable working in a team environment, encourage and foster cooperation and teamwork while remaining open to change and new information and ideas.
Direct experience maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) throughout daily operations. Must be detail oriented, able to handle confidential information appropriately, and demonstrate the ability to influence outcomes with no direct authority.
Education/Experience: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of the Laboratory's benefits policies, practices and procedures.
Experience in an ERISA HR Benefits environment.
Knowledge of 401(k) administration.
Experience in pension plan administration.
Experience in process improvement, LEAN, or Six Sigma.
Relevant professional certification(s) / designation(s) (e.g. CEBS, CBP, SPHR, etc.).
Working knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) and Oracle Advanced Benefits (OAB).
Strong data analysis and analytical skills.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the one year of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.Please refer to Laboratory Policy P701 for applicant eligibility requirements.
