Los Alamos National Laboratory Bioimaging Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) and the Bioenergy and Biome Science (B-11) groups at Los Alamos National Laboratories are seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position to exploit new imaging methods using entangled photon pairs to monitor plant vitality and health. This is a large, multidisciplinary project involving experts in time-resolved imaging, quantum optics, and plant biology. Expected job duties for this position involve exploiting and analyzing plant images obtained using a new label free imaging method being developed by other members of this cross-disciplinary team. This postdoc is also expected to perform conventional biochemical and biological methods of monitoring water content and biomass accumulation in plants.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experimental Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Plant Science, or other relevant field completed in last 5 years

  • Outstanding scientific achievement as demonstrated through publications and presentations

  • Proficiency in data analysis methods

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience writing software to analyze experimental data

  • Experience with plant biology, anatomy, and physiology

  • Experience with quantitative microscopy

  • Experience with infra-red or Raman spectroscopy techniques

  • Experience with microfluidics
