What You Will Do_

Come join our team. SEC-PSS provides technical support for the administrative badge reader and the security badge reader systems at the Laboratory. While working with the Administrative Access Control System (AACS) Team, the selected applicant shall become fully proficient in fabricating, installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment for Access Control systems. Technician will install, program, troubleshoot, and repair electronic systems in a field environment or office environment. Technicians may work independently or Team environment depending on the project or trouble ticket.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to evaluate new and existing systems based on manufacturer specifications, design documentation, relevant procedures, and customer input.

  • Basic knowledge of testing circuits, devices, wiring, and other system specific components to identify problems and generate solutions, restoring system function.

  • Basic knowledge of using electronics Test & Measurement Equipment in circuit testing/troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrated ability using basic hand and power tools.

  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of personnel.

Desired Skills:

  • Basic knowledge in designing and installing new security and access control systems.

  • Some experience with database maintenance.

  • Ability to troubleshoot system malfunctions using various test equipment, schematics, and procedures with little or no direct supervision.

  • Demonstrated client/customer focus, team building skills, business acumen and orientation, and a focus on results.

  • Basic understanding of virtual environment.

  • Basic understanding of enterprise storage.

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows Server technologies: Server 2008/2012/2016

  • Basic understanding of enterprise networking.

Education:Requires high school diploma or equivalent and directly relevant experience of 1-2 years.

Additional Details:

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

The Defense Security Program (DFS) including Centerra Los Alamos (CLA) and Pro2Serve, is here to enable the Laboratory to achieve its national security and science missions is responsible for preventing and neutralizing threats to the Laboratory. Security Division (SEC-DO) priorities are to secure and protect materials, information, people, and property and to deter security threats. Within the SEC-DO division, Physical Security Systems (SEC-PSS) oversees badge readers (Argus & Apollo), and oversees the Interior Intrusion System and the Perimeter Intrusion Detection Alarm System.
