What You Will Do eXperience Information Technology (XIT) division is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Windows and Mac OS X System Administrator for the XIT Unclassified Systems Services (XIT-USS) group. XIT-USS consists of approximately 65 professionals, technicians, and students. The successful candidate will work in XIT-USS and will be providing dedicated desktop support services to an assigned customer base in various locations across the laboratory. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day desktop support services to an assigned customer base across the laboratory. The successful candidate will also provide day-to-day technical support services in a heterogeneous computing environment for XIT-USS customers.
This position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Tec 4 or Computing Systems Tec 5 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Computing Systems Tec 4 (CST-4) ($64,400 - $102,300)
The successful candidates will perform the full spectrum of remote and field level Windows and Mac desktop administration, including but not limited to:
Support Windows and Mac desktop systems
Ticketmaster role and responsibilities
Resolve issues or fulfill requests through Windows and Mac remote desktop support
Troubleshoot issues through on-site field support
Installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktop, or mobile systems, workstations, and network issues including, wireless and role-based access control in a heterogeneous environment
Setup and installation of hardware and software
Providing outstanding customer service, including working with customers to resolve issues
Experience implementing “Best Practice”, processes, and standards
Experience working well in a team environment as well as working independently
Computing Systems Tec 5 (CST-5) ($71,000 - $112,700)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the (higher level title) will be required to:
Proactively managing systems utilizing Active Directory
Researching emerging technologies, new industry trends, and hardware and software tools and solutions
Experience with managing projects to fulfill customer technical needs
Communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
Willing to learn and provide support for Windows server and thin clients hardware and infrastructure
Practice Information Architecture processes and standards
Must be willing to mentor
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated extensive knowledge of Windows and Mac OS X system administration
Experience researching, installing and solving complex software and hardware/network issues in a heterogeneous computing environment
Experience troubleshooting problems using Bomgar, SSH, or similar desktop automation systems to remotely administer systems
Experience with hardware or software hard drive encryption and software file encryption
Exceptional work ethics and time management
Additional Job Requirements for CST-5:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
Demonstrated knowledge of Windows Server support and administration
Experience solving complex software and hardware issues in a heterogeneous computing environment
Experience using configuration management tools
Education/Experience at lower level:
Position requires a High School diploma or equivalency and 4 years directly related experience; or; an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Technical Institute graduation or AA degree may be preferred.
Education/Experience at higher level:
Position requires a High School diploma or equivalency and 6 years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, including associate’s degrees and graduation from technical institutions.
Desired Skills (skills that are nice to have, but not necessary)
Vendor certification (Apple Mac or Microsoft Windows)
Working knowledge or familiarity with Windows and/or Mac Server Administration

for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
