What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Cyber-Security Technical Staff Member 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
Cyber-Security Technical Staff Member 1 ($77,300 - $126,000)
Play a key role on a team of highly skilled professionals developing and maintaining enterprise scale services for managing desktops, laptops, and servers. This position will work with a sub-team managing and developing systems that support inventory, compliance, system health assessment, and response to Federal data calls. Specific tasks may include:
Administration of services running on Windows or Linux servers
Administration of large scale database servers
Developing/maintaining client services that run on Windows, Linux, and MacOS clients
Developing metrics reports using various tools
Assisting in coordination of the response to Federal data calls
Assist with the software maintenance of data integration and scoring programs
Cyber-Security Technical Staff Member 2 ($85,400 - $139,600)
In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level will perform advanced analysis, solutions development, and coordination of data call response. Additional tasks may include:
Independent development of software using a variety of languages including C#.net, ASP.net, PHP, and Python
Work with various level of management on complex security, technical, and compliance issues
Lead solutions development efforts, research new technologies, and enterprise scale service deployment efforts

Experience working with one or more of the following computer operating systems: Windows, MacOS, Linux
Additional Job Requirements for Cyber-Security Technical Staff Member 2:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
Solutions analysis and development experience
Experience with software security and/or compliance issues
Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting databases
Education/Experience at lower level: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of 2 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 4 years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Good understanding of TCP/IP networking
In depth knowledge of computer security issues
Hands on experience working with Python, C#.NET, PHP, or ASP.NET
Hands on experience with advanced database administration and development including creating indexes, partitioning data, and extract-transform-and-load (ETL) operations.
Experience with Federal information security standards and guidance including: FISMA, NIST 800-53, FIPS 199, the Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides (DISA-STIGS)
Experience with assessing host configurations using SCAP based compliance scans
Strong understanding of host computer security issues
Relevant certifications: GSEC, GCCC, GMON, Security +, CISSP, MCSA, RHCSA

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
