What You Will Do
Support the Symantec Endpoint Protection Infrastructure
Provide the end user community with anti-virus, host integrity protection, and host based firewall services while minimizing impact to daily computing activities for a wide range of different computing environments.
Provide anti-virus definition updates to the enterprise, adapt policies as new technologies are released, and work with vendor support to resolve issues.
Will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client and server infrastructure.
Patch and upgrade the operating system and Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) software for the SEP infrastructure, manage a Microsoft SQL database instance, manage the SEP client on approximately 15,000 Windows servers, workstations, and Mac systems in both classified and unclassified environments.
What You Need
The selected candidate should have experience with one or more endpoint protection technologies. This experience should include working with anti-virus, authoring rules for the firewall IDS, and IPS, and creating host integrity rules. The selected candidate should also be able to demonstrate innovative problem solving skills in a heterogeneous computing environment and demonstrate the ability to work independently in analyzing and solving complex problems. The selected candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical staff, be able to write documents ranging from formal and informal reports, system documentation, and training materials.
Minimum Job Requirements:
At least two years’ experience in system administration of Windows, MacOS
Solid Understating of TCP/IP
Experience with endpoint protection including host based anti-virus, firewall, IPS/IDS, and host integrity checking
Experience working in an enterprise environment with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Ability to provide Tier-3 support to field administrators as well as users
Education/Experience: Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 typically requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a technical field and a minimum of 4 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiarity with at least one relational database system (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc)
Knowledge of network related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS)
Knowledge of creating and managing firewall rules,
Demonstrated experience working with Virtualization

This position will be physically located in Los Alamos. This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
