What You Will Do
You will work as a member of the Technical Area 55 Division, TA55-DO, Process Maintenance and Decontamination Services Group, TA55-PMDS, Programmatic Maintenance Team for PF-4 and RLUOB. The Programmatic Maintenance Team is responsible for performing maintenance on programmatic equipment and glovebox support systems to support program deliverables for PT and AMPP per Facility Service Requests (FSRs) or other methods. You will primarily support TA55-PMDS Programmatic Maintenance activities and report to First Line Manager for preparing, reviewing and working against approved IWDs specific to task and location. You will support the TA55-PMDS Group responsible for corrective and preventative maintenance of programmatic equipment, as well as the decommissioning and demolition of process equipment used in the plutonium facility at TA-55, RLUOB, and CMR.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
Apply established work methods and procedures to perform limited diagnostic checks; and to disassemble, repair, reassemble, and test equipment and components
Follow prescribed procedures, locate and diagnose failures or malfunctions, replace defective components, and perform basic troubleshooting
Monitor equipment efficiencies, including the determination of functional problems with test equipment and diagnostic tools
Prepare required installation and/or repair documentation and maintain appropriate maintenance and history logs
Decontaminate/decommission/demolish process equipment used in the plutonium facility and RLUOB for operations including the use of hand tools
Understand and adhere to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to installation, repair, and maintenance while meeting quality specifications and established requirements
Assist the organization in achieving safe, effective, and compliant operations, preventing pollution, minimizing waste and conserving resources
Specialized training and occasional travel may be required
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Installation: Working knowledge and experience with installation, testing, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment or systems.
Electrical Systems: Demonstrated ability and experience with multiple mechanical systems or electrical systems.Demonstrated ability and experience with electrical systems from 120V to 480V. Experience in electrical equipment installations.
Interpretation of Drawings: Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics. Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions, drawings, layouts and other related specifications.
Equipment: Ability and experience in replacing and repairing mechanical components on a wide variety of equipment. Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting programmatic equipment and performance assurance. Ability to use a variety of typical bench top equipment and tools.
Equipment/Systems: Ability to interpret and apply comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of equipment and systems theory and principles.
Team: Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Hazardous Materials: Ability to work with radioactive and hazardous materials.
Work Procedures: Ability to follow directions that are very specific and detailed and can execute work to established procedures for routine work.
Clearance: Ability to obtain a Q clearance and HRP Certification.
Qualification: DOE 426.2 Education Requirement: This position requires a High School diploma
Education/Experience: Position require an Associates’ Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Ability to obtain Fissile Material Handlers (FMH) Certification
Experience using basic test equipment and measuring devices to conduct testing in a development mode, and determines methods or actions to correct malfunctions or design problems
Experience developing solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity
Experience writing or contributing to Integrated Work Documents, Detailed Operating Procedures, or other work planning documents
Prepares required installation and/or repair documentation and maintains appropriate maintenance and repair logs
Collaborates with others as required to support the safety/reliability of equipment/systems
Responsible for monitoring equipment efficiencies, including the determination of functional problems with test equipment and diagnostic tools
Experience in MS Office applications
Experience with working on gloveboxes and glovebox services such as inert gas and vacuum systems.
Experience GTA welding on stainless steel plate and piping systems.
Experience with pipefitting techniques including fabrication, assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, soldering, mechanical joints and threaded joints. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
Experience in leak testing of systems and equipment. Experience with vacuum systems
Experience in testing, repairing and troubleshooting electrical systems and components. To include low voltage systems, as well as 120-480 V power distribution systems.
